Mauro Peter
Born in scenic and music-loving Lucerne, Mauro Peter (1987*) is at home in the lyric tenor repertoire. As a child he sang with the Lucerne Boys’ Choir and began his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich in 2008.
In 2012 Peter won the Robert Schumann Competition for himself and in the same year made his debuts at the Schubertiade and as part of the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival. Since then he has returned regularly to the Festival stages. In addition to his permanent position at the Zurich Opera House, his tours in the following years have taken him to the Vienna Musikverein, the Munich Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as well as the Pierre Boulez Saal and the Konzerthaus in Berlin.
Mauro Peter’s extensive repertoire includes both intimate lied singing and grand opera. The Swiss tenor has already worked with the great conductors Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Zubin Mehta, Fabio Luisi, Gustavo Dudamel, Iván Fischer, John Eliot Gardiner and Teodor Currentzis. In lieder, Peter performs with the pianist Helmut Deutsch.
