Benjamin Bernheim

Benjamin Bernheim is a French-Swiss tenor, born on 9 June 1985 in Paris and raised in Geneva. He studied singing with Gary Magby at the Lausanne Conservatory and gained his first stage experience at the International Opera Studio and in the ensemble of the Zurich Opera. He made his breakthrough with romantic leading roles such as Faust, Werther, Rodolfo and Des Grieux, which he sang at leading opera houses worldwide – in Paris, Zurich, Berlin, London, Vienna and New York, for example. Bernheim specialises in the French repertoire, which has earned him great recognition. He is signed to Deutsche Grammophon; in addition to his debut album, he has released further albums such as Boulevard des Italiens and Douce France: Mélodies & Chansons. Thanks to his outstanding talent and charismatic stage presence, he is now considered one of the most important tenors of his generation. He was voted Singer of the Year at the 2025 Opus Klassik Awards. In the 2025/26 season, he will return to Zurich Opera as Des Grieux in Manon and sing Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Berlin State Opera. Critics particularly praise his silvery timbre, his vocal elegance and his deep expressiveness, which delight audiences and experts alike.
