Maria Agresta

Maria Agresta is an Italian lyric soprano, born on July 16, 1978, in Vallo della Lucania. A graduate of the Giuseppe Martucci Conservatory in Salerno, she refined her technique under Raina Kabaivanska in Modena and won several international competitions before making her professional debut in 2007. Her first major public success came in 2011 with I Vespri siciliani at the Teatro Regio in Turin, which launched her career on the world’s leading stages. Maria Agresta excels in the Verdi and Puccini repertoires, performing roles such as Mimi, Norma, Leonora, Violetta, and Desdemona. Her career has taken her from the Metropolitan Opera in New York to La Scala in Milan, as well as the Royal Opera House in London and the Paris Opera. In 2014, she received the Franco Abbiati Prize from the Italian critics and was named Cavaliere of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
